Graham Packaging Canada Limited is looking for a Materials Coordinator based in Mississauga, ON.
The Material Coordinator is responsible for monitoring and operating units and machinery to blend, mix, process and package a range of plastic packaging containers. They co-ordinate and expedite the flow of work and materials within an establishment, prepare work and production schedules, and monitor the progress of production.
Job Functions/Tasks:
• Monitor meters, gauges and electronic instrumentation on one or more formulation units, such as mixers, blenders, driers, and/or granulation machines
• Measure, weigh and load ingredients following formulation cards
• Start up, shut down, troubleshoot and clean equipment
• Record production data and adjust processing machines and/or equipment as necessary
• Monitor reaction processes and transfers of products in conformance with safety procedures
• Load, unload and move products and materials by hand or using basic material handling equipment
• Perform other material handling activities such as counting, weighing, sorting, packing and unpacking.
• Compile detailed worksheets and specifications from customer's order
• Estimate type and quantity of materials required for production
• Consult with Shift Supervisor to schedule production runs in a cost and time-efficient manner
• Meet regularly with other production, warehouse and inventory personnel to co-ordinate activities between warehouses and production floor
• Co-ordinate and monitor the movement of parts, supplies and materials within an establishment and ensure that supplies, materials and products are shipped and received on schedule
• Prepare and maintain various reports on the progress of work, materials used, rates of production and other production information, using manual or computerized systems.
Job Requirements:
• Completion of post-secondary plastics or manufacturing education, or related discipline.
• A minimum of two (2) years previous experience in manufacturing required.
• Superior problem solving and time management skills.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
• Has strong interpersonal skills and maintains constructive working relationships.
• Must have the ability to work independently within a defined/documented schedule.
• Computer literate and with a working knowledge of MS Office products.
• Has a clear understanding of potential health and safety hazards within a manufacturing facility and is knowledgeable of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Legislation.
